How this unvaccinated health coach handled covid
“Hilda, I’ve never seen you like this!” my friend exclaimed when he saw me throw myself on the ground and stay there, like a slug. I was exhausted. I couldn’t get up or even muster up the words to reply, “Of course you haven’t! I’ve never been like this before.”
To say I was fatigued would be an understatement. I was completely depleted, a zero to the left side of the decimal point, as they say in Mexico. Emotionally, I was also flattened. I had no motivation to do anything beyond rest. And mentally, I was slowed down to 1/100 speed. My family would ask me a question. I would not reply. When they would ask again, I’d respond, “I’m thinking.” Brain fog had settled comfortably around my neurons, as if my brain had relocated to London.
I got the ‘rona in early August. Some might say I “deserved it” for not getting vaccinated. The truth is, part of me wanted to get it. To me, having a sickness and overcoming it is the most perfect “inoculation” the body could ever have.
That’s not to say the experience was easy for me. Some people get the sniffles and are sick for a day or two. Others struggle and some don’t make it at all. I was hit pretty hard and was down for the count for a solid two weeks.
My symptoms included:
fever, chills
diarrhea
congestion
fatigue (aforementioned), overall weakness
sore throat
mucous-y cough
brain fog (aforementioned)
muted sense of taste and smell
low energy, little appetite
flat mood/oversensitivity to stimuli
This was no ordinary cold or flu. This was something altogether different. I never got tested to confirm what I had. But there’s no doubt in my mind that this was the sickness that has been hitting a large swath of the world’s population.
If you’re wondering how I “caught” the so-called “virus,” well, I am too. If I were in a courtroom and asked to point out the culprit, I’d be at a loss. But I can say this, my body was vulnerable due in part to the atmospheric radiation I experienced in my travels the weeks prior. I had flown to Ecuador, then to the Galapagos, then back to the mainland, then home, then out west for a wedding and then back home again. A total of six flights in under six weeks. Basically, I was run down on some level — my resilience, compromised.
So, what did I do to recover from the sickness? How did this integrative nutrition health coach handle covid? I decided to go the “natural” route, as best I could.
Soups like this one and natural open spaces helped promote healing.
No fever-reducing meds, since fever is the body’s natural response to fighting sickness.
Plenty of sunshine. I even did a little nude sunbathing once or twice.
Grounding. I frequently put my feet and entire body on the earth to absorb its energy.
I left the city for the country, to escape hundreds of cell towers and wifi networks.
Pine needle tea, water w/ electrolytes, and bone broth to drink; thyme steams to inhale.
Nourishing words. I read Eisenstein’s “The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know is Possible” and “The Chronicles of Narnia” by C.S. Lewis.
Twice a day, I took a modified version of the Zelenko protocol:
Two 500 mg. of quercetin
One zinc (12.5–25 mg)
One vitamin D (Nutrigold) 5,000 IU
Two vitamin C 1000 mg
One NAC 600 mg (detox regulator)
Gelsemium 30 c (homeopathy — 4 per dose)
I’m happy that I made it through. Admittedly, it hit me like a Mack truck. And I’m usually healthy as a horse. But I have no regrets.
I explain why this is and share the entire experience in this candid video, with Robin Shirley of Take Back Your Health. She interviewed me two weeks ago for her Safe Haven series. Watch me tell all with my own lips. Plus, I explain:
Why I was never afraid
What I did to eliminate my post-covid lingering cough and shortness of breath
Why I did not take ivermectin (even though I had access to it)
Why I chose to fight the sickness naturally w/ support from supplements rather than getting a shot in the first place
Tell me how you are handling the threat of contagion or the illness itself, if you got it. This health coach, for one, recommends supporting the body through natural methods, as much as possible. There are many natural remedies/helps to pursue. And while it may not be easy, your body is likely to come out on the other side, stronger and more resilient.
